Group Project Research Paper Guidelines (40 points)
Each individual will complete a short paper on the Daphnia experiment they conducted during class. The research paper will contain the title with the author's name), abstract, introduction, methods and material, results, discussion, and references. See the grading rubric for information on how this assignment will be graded.
The research paper is limited to 3 pages with one-inch margins. This includes graphs, tables, and references. The research paper will be typed using Times New Roman, and 12 point font, and singled spaced.
Sections of the Research Paper:
Title: the title should briefly describe your experiment.
Abstract: The abstract is a short summary of the whole paper. It should include a statement of the hypothesis being tested, a short description of the methods used, a brief statement of the results and conclusions.
Introduction: The introduction should present a brief background on the topic, and include the question and hypothesis.
Methods and Materials: The methods section should describe in detail the materials and procedures that will be used so that other researchers could repeat the research. Be sure to write methods in paragraph form.
Results: The results should be presented clearly without bias or intreptation. Just describe the actual results, but do not give reasons for why. Graphs, tables, figures, diagrams, and/or photos should be used to present the data and results. Properly label graphs with a title, axes labels (including units) and key (legend) if needed.
Discussion: In the discussion section, you should evaluate and interpret the meaning of your results- a conclusion related to the question and hypothesis of the experiment. You can point out their biological significance. You should a...
