Burning Eddy Discussion Questions
Cycle A ch 1-4 pg 1-27
1. ) 'Mum's spider medicine was to spray them with hairspray. They would eventually die from starvation. Totally sick.' (6) Nature: Should people have respect for spiders? I think that spiders should be respected. Daniels's way of dealing with his fears is smart, it teaches him how to overcome the things you're scared of by learning every little detail about them enabling him the right information and all the possible outcomes of his actions. Spiders also play a big role in the environment so without them a lot could go wrong. So I think that yes, spiders should be respected; I mean what proper harm can they do if we leave them be?
2. ) 'Did you hear that? I played a little tune with my bum! A wind song. Ha ha!' (17) Friendship: Do you respect Eddy for being open or do you think she was being rude? I respect Eddy's actions, as I see no harm in being open around others. To others, it may seem rude, but I do not agree, as there is no harm in being yourself. I think she is just quick to connect with others and feels free to be open and be herself in front of others. I think that people should be encouraged to be like her.
Cycle B ch 5-8 pg 28-26 1. ) ' Everyone calls me a fairy.' (29) Freedom/Forgiveness: What advice would you give to someone who is constantly called a name they do not like? The advice I would give someone is to just ignore him or her because his or her opinions do not matter or make a difference if you do not let them. If you were bothered that much by it, it would be best to speak to an adult that you trust or just to confront them. You should never take anything to heart or ever let it bother you as it can build up and get worse and worse in the future. Make sure though that you make a stand because the more and more that you let it pass the worse they will treat you because you not saying anything tells them that you don't care.
2. ) 'I felt like smacking Michael in the head with a shovel.' (58) Freedom/Forgiveness: Do you think Dan had the right to get even with Michael? What advice would you give Dan if you were Eddy? Like Eddy said, 'Always there will be someone to hurt you or steal from you. That doesn't mean you have to do the same.' (58) You never want to sink down to the level of the people that hurt you. If they were to make a move with you in the moment, it wouldn't matter whether or not you hit them, as long as you don't throw the first punch. I think that you should never go back and "get even" with someone as it can make things worse than what they need to be.
3. ) 'They h...
