Once upon a time, a boy had an immense love for animals. He desired nothing more in the world than to have a pet to love. His parents, however, did not support his ideas and dreams. He kept his love for animals quiet, trying not to upset his parents with his parallel views of how what is right or not; however, it still created many conflicts. He envied every other kid who owned a pet; he wanted to feel the similar love and affection that existed between a pet and its owner. Therefore, one day, he decided to separate himself from his parent's belief that animals could not be a person's best friend. He would go on into the wild and be determined to find his forever best friend and hopefully have a mind-altering experience that would change his parents' contradictory mindset on why animals can be a person's best friend.
Once he moved out and was on his own, he decided to get himself a puppy. Going along with the common belief that dogs are man's best friend, he went ahead and brought the puppy home. The first couple of days were casual. He familiarized himself with the dog and the relationship seemed great. They strolled the park for hours on end, playing fetch and enjoying their walks. The boy believed that the dog was all he needed to be happy. Eventually, the boy realized that his daily interactions with the dog had turned mundane and boring. It felt more like a task to care for the dog rather than the enjoyable companionship that he had envisioned. The dog did make him happy. However, it brought him no personal gain. Therefore he decided that maybe a dog was not appropriate for his lifestyle and took him to a shelter where he would find someone better suited to care for him.
He did some research and learned that cats, unlike dogs, required less upkeep, so he adopted a cat. He acquired the necessities to care for it, such as a litter box, food, and some toys. The cat loved the house, it was spacious and the boy was happy as well, not having to worry about taking the cat to the park. Unlike the dog, however, the cat showed the boy no affection, it enjoyed peace and quiet by itself. The man, once again upset with his choice of pet, believed that it was time to just do what his parents told him and follow the conventional way of leaving the animals...
