After today's iPhone 2.0 announcement can I now laugh at Blackberry users who refer to the iPhone as a toy? I was excited by and curious about the announcement today that a number of fortune 500 enterprises have been testing the iPhone platform/device.

Add AnswerSteve Jobs needs to add a slide out QWERTY keyboard and you might have something there. Until then, RIM ain't going nowhere! ;)
Absolutely! The new iPhone looks awesome and the push-email will definitely see some more enterprises jumping on the bandwagon... See you in the line outside the Apple store on the 11th!!

Apple (and all the hipsters who use Apple products because they are "cool") should realize that while there are some good products coming out of 1 infinite loop, there are a lot of smart folks and companies out there who compete in the same space. And for those ignorant few who blindly follow Steve Jobs like the Piped Piper, here's some news for you:
A report from IDC shows Apple has been losing market share in 2008 to both Research in Motion and Palm; RIM scored 44.5 per cent of the market for the first three months in 2008 (up from 35.1 per cent in the previous quarter); the iPhone placed second with 19.2 per cent market share (down from 26.7 in the previous quarter); and Palm placed third with 13.4 per cent of the market (up from 7.9 per cent in the previous quarter).
Now, the 3G iPhone will definitely reverse this losing trend in the short term, but if Steve can sustain that initial euphoria is yet to be seen...
@anon, interesting stats - I had no idea that the iphone was losing market share. That being said, RIM caters to the Enterprise market and that's where it has a lock (and no real competition) until today. The new iPhone poses a big threat because of its enterprise appeal - push email, microsoft exchange server, etc. etc. The fact that it is the SEXIEST phone in the market definitely helps its case...
Crap...thought it was June 11. Can't believe I have to wait for another month! :(
@drupaldd I agree, the 3G and Push Email and don't forget the GPS! will make it the ultimate mobile computing device. Can't wait!

MAC is so good at promoting, and every one just falls on there tail.
But Apple/MAC needs to do better.
Yes the phone is great looking, but whatβs new, faster internet ?, is the camera much better ? why is there no video callβs ? Actually the new things is still OLD. Can I change my battery ?, No the iPhone is the same old phone, wit a faster internet, still stone-age technology, in this business
No Apple, has done this again. People like my self got the first one, and was happy with the internet and mail, but in a business you need copy / Paste, but this are you still not getting. Apple's discussion forum, is no good, all you will hear is β the iPhone does not do this or thatβ so get the new iPhone 3G and get ready to get disappointed
@Anon, As an 1st generation iPhone owner - I tend to agree. Apple makes GREAT products but might be stretching itself thin by trying to bite off more than it can chew.
BTW - Check out the AAPL and RIMM stock quotes for the last 2 days - gives you a good sense of how the market feels about the 2 products ;)
