I'm running low on free disk space, and I've noticed weird behavior and start getting warnings that I'm almost out of free space. I am using Leopard.
- How do I not create a sleep image? I have read that this is not essential?
- My drag-drop stops working every so often, and I am not sure what I need to restart to get this working. I have tried restarting finder but to no avail. A system restart fixes this problem.
Also, what tools do you use to manage your hard drives, in terms of file management for space?

Omni Disksweeper is a great tool to clean out your hard drive.
I use Omni Disksweeper which, as stated above, is a great tool for analyzing and tracking down those large files that my not be necessary. I have also noticed that when less than 10 GB of hard drive space remain on a mac it gets a bit weird. I would definitely free space on your hard drive to fix the problems you state in your question.
Another program to help clean up hard drive space that is free is Disk Inventory X. It shows you your files and folders with graphics instead of text. It's certainly worth a peek. :)
I LOVE Disk Inventory X! What a great tool!
VesperDEM, for some reason your link didn't come through - here it is:

I was amazed to find how much junk I had sitting around in duplicated files from older projects that were duplicated!
