Microsoft Visio is diagramming software for Microsoft Windows. It uses vector graphics to create diagrams. The 2007 Standard and Professional editions share the same interface, but the latter has additional templates for more advanced diagrams and layouts as well as unique functionality that makes it easy for users to connect their diagrams to a number of data sources and display the information graphically. Visio is a life saver and one of Microsoft's better applications. After switching to the Mac, Omni Graffle is definitely the way to go but Visio's simplicity and ubiquity (esp. in the business world) makes this a very useful application - one that EVERY consultant needs on his laptop.
That being said, I think the Open Source community can definitely build a better Visio (if it hasn't already) and I can't wait to see it! :)
Visio is probably the best microsoft app but still one of the worst workflow visualization apps that exist...
