smtp-benchmark is a benchmarking suite to measure the performance of SMTP gateways like Sendmail-based MTAs. It consists of two parts, an SMTP sender and an SMTP sink which can be connected to both sides of a mail server. The sender generates (dummy) messages at full speed, whereas the sink program disposes of messages received over SMTP as quickly as possible.
